Product Description:

Matter3D Performance PLA - Carbon Fiber is made right here in Victoria, BC using premium NatureWorks 3D850 PLA resin and High-Modulus Carbon Fiber. Carbon Fiber PLA filament is ideal for anyone that desires an end-use component with very high modulus (stiffness), excellent surface quality (matte finish that masks layer lines), dimensional stability (very accurate retraction), light weight, and ease of printing. This material is designed to be printed at high speed with almost no loss in dimensional tolerance.

This is our favourite material to print with and our best formulation thus far.

Benefits of Carbon Fiber PLA:

  • Extremely stiff material
  • 10% (by weight) Carbon Fiber content
  • Strong and light weight, ideal for structural designs
  • Annealable
  • High heat resistance (> 90C)
  • Matte finish
  • Superior chemical resistance when compared to ABS
  • Crystalline structure that prevents warping
  • Low moisture absorption, 3x lower than ABS
  • No odor while printing
  • Wide processing range from 215-250°C

Abrasive Material:

This material is particularly abrasive among 3D printing filaments. Users may find standard brass nozzles are chewed through very quickly compared to standard wear and tear. When worn through, the nozzle diameter will widen inconsistently and the printer will experience extrusion issues.

Because of this, it's strongly recommended this material be printed through a hardened steel nozzle rather than a softer metal. Hardened steel nozzles can often be inexpensive and easily installed depending on your printer manufacturer's instructions.
